Currently, part-time faculty in our district can o Currently, part-time faculty in our district can only get SMCCCD healthcare if they pay the whole premium themselves! That’s hundreds and potentially thousands of dollars a month. We are grateful to Governor @gavinnewsom, Senate pro tem President @senatortoniatkins, and Speaker @rendon63rd for investing $200 million yearly for healthcare for part-time community college faculty. Now we need a trailer bill that ensures as many faculty as possible can access a quality, affordable healthcare plan #facultyhealthcarenow

Members of @aft_1493 were on hand at SF City Hall Members of @aft_1493 were on hand at SF City Hall yesterday to support a ballot initiative to aid SF’s recovery by investing in City College! So great to see @seiu1021 @aft_2121 and other activists turn in more than 20,000 signatures in favor of putting #sfwercs on the November ballot. Thanks SF Supervisors @myrnamelgard7 and @deanprestond5 for being there too!

Congratulations to our AFT 1493 2022 scholarship a Congratulations to our AFT 1493 2022 scholarship awardee Win Shwee Yee! Our committee of SMCCCD faculty and AFT leaders chose Win Shwee based on her dedication to developing sustainable tourism infrastructure in Burma, where she grew up, and her creation of a low-cost tutoring service to provide both education and jobs. Congratulations Win Shwee and all SMCCCD students celebrating accomplishments this month!
