Priority 1

Academic Freedom

Faculty must determine what they teach in their classrooms—not administrators. Like every other Bay 10 community college district, we need an Academic Freedom clause in our contract that is subject to our standard grievance procedure so it has real enforcement power.

Priority 2

Lab/Lecture Parity

Instructors who teach lab courses should not have to teach extra hours to maintain the same workload or receive equal pay. We are fighting for equal pay for equal work.

Faculty Working Conditions are Student Learning Conditions! Lab/Lecture parity has proven to boost student retention and success at neighboring districts, including Foothill/DeAnza, Contra Costa, and Orange County.

Priority 3

Fair Compensation

San Mateo is the most expensive county in California, and SMCCCD is one of the top three wealthiest districts in the United States. High inflation has effectively cut our real wages by over 7% since our last contract.
