- Help the Campaign
Join AFT 1493
Executive Committee members and other Skyline faculty on Monday
evening, October 18, for a Proposition 25 phone bank at Skyline
College. Phone bank participants will reach out to SMCCD faculty to
encourage their support for Prop. 25, the California majority vote
budget measure. Those interested in volunteering at the phone will
gather from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Room 6205 at Skyline College. Phones will
be provided by the CFT regional office.

Contact Chip Chandler
(x4286), Nina L. Floro (x4414), Katharine Harer (x4412), or
Eric Brenner (x4177) if you're interested in volunteering or if you'd
like additional information.
Negotiations
Update
AFT
1493 Chief Negotiator Joaquin Rivera and fellow negotiators Katharine Harer, Victoria Clinton, and Sandi Raeber Dorsett have worked hard over this past year
in their collective bargaining efforts with the District. However, the District has rejected
all proposals, which include non-monetary items such as binding
arbitration, and has asked for multiple take-backs (see September 2010 Advocate article,
"Negotiations Deadlocked:
District Offering Nothing but Takebacks").
Collective
Bargaining Negotiations Survey
With
negotiations deadlocked and at a stand still, the negotiations team
would like your input on AFT bargaining priorities and what you feel
should be the next course of action. Your feedback on this issue is extremley critical to our negotiations team, which
would like faculty from as wide a range as possible to respond. Please
take a moment to complete this important 2-3 minute survey:

Skyline
Part-time AFT Representative Needed
While CSM and Caņada
AFT members recently elected adjunct faculty to serve as voting members
on our local Executive Committee, Skyline College remains without
adjunct representation on the EC. If you
are interested in representing Skyline part-timers, are an AFT 1493
dues-paying member in good standing, and are actively employed as an
adjunct faculty at Skyline College, please contact AFT 1493 President
Monica Malamud at malamudm@smccd.edu
(x3442) or Executive Secretary Dan Kaplan at kaplan@smccd.edu (x6491).
